Obsessing
Things I obsess about, want.
My many obsessions
Oct 19th
I don’t think I have OCD but I do obsess about things. I have had many more obsessions over the years but I will mention a few and yes a new one.
* I started scrapbooking years ago. I bought scrapbooking albums and got my Girl Scout troop interested in scrapbooking. I have done two Girl Scout Scrapbooks, one partially done one for hubby as a gift, and one family album with about 4 pages in it. I haven’t scrapbooked in about 5 years tho I still collect supplies for when I do. I have drawers of supplies like stickers, stampers and even bought another scrapbook album about two months ago. But have yet to actually scrapbook or print many pictures in years.
* I became obsessed with making my own jewlery at one time. I started with beads of all sorts and moved on to buying clay and making my own beads. I haven’t touched my supplies in about 3 years.
* I became obsessed with computers when I got my first one about 14 years ago. I wanted to learn and know everything about them. I taught myself html and wound up enrolling in college to learn even more. I thought I was going to work with computers one day. I had to quit going to school for other reasons but never went back and stopped obessing about computers. Of coarse I blog, facebook, etc but I don’t study them nor care to anymore. My geek status is in the toilet.
* When my husband was in the military he was stationed in Savannah, GA. I had always wished we never left and missed the south. Now and then I would mention wanting to move back one day but it wasn’t until we went on vacation an hour from Savannah that i became obsessed with it. We have vacationed there every year since and my need to move there becomes a bigger obsession each year. I don’t think that will ever die until I do move there.
* My newest obsession is painting. A friend of mine and I came up with the idea to paint to let out some creativity and boredom. I had never painted before and researched the net for some inspiration. I came up with the idea to print out theme words and pick them out to use in each piece. The first one I used was “smoking”. I used actual cigarette pieces in my finished painting.
I have made a total of two craft store shopping trips in a week and spent over $100 on my new obsession. I think I needed a creative outlet but I hope this one lasts.
Is it a form of OCD? I do get pretty crazy and obsess about having enough supplies. I notice I especially get obessed with creative outlets but never keep up with them for some reason.
Dog Collection
Oct 12th
There was a time I wanted more children and was upset that we choose early in life that we were done. You can’t blame us after having three by 25. I am one of those people who wanted nothing more out of life than to be a stay at home mom and take care of a gaggle of kids.
For many years I was a Girl Scout Leader enjoying other peoples kids to fill that void. It did start with my daughter wanting to be a Girl Scout, but little did I know how much it would fill a need for me.
I have a need to care for others. Its something naturally in me. My kids are all getting older with my youngest 12 and my oldest graduating high school this year. We talk all the time and spend time together but they don’t need that nurturing I miss giving to a toddler. I now work full time and no longer do Girl Scouts after 11 years so whats a girl to do to fill that nuturing need? My answer is apparently collecting dogs.
Of coarse I had Angel who passed away last year and she filled a huge part of my heart. She was like one of my children and when she died I felt like I lost a child. I am apparently over compensating for the need to nuture and the need to have back ups.
So welcome Baby, Pudgy and the newest addition Itty Bitty. My husband said I am done collecting.

Addicted to Android
Jun 4th
I was one of those people who didn’t plan on getting an android phone or iphone. My phone did what I wanted it to, it called people, texted, took pics, and accessed mobile web. Thats enough right? My phone provider changed things and my phone was no longer supported under their plans so they offered me $100 to turn my phone in. That gave me an opportunity to upgrade to an android.
I haven’t put it down since as it has become such a big part of my life. I thought my Ipod Touch was enough at the time for me. I had wi-fi at home which was pretty much the only place I used it.
-
I will say that I have a Cricket phone. I don’t have many complaints about it. It is using android 2.1 and hopefully will update eventually to catch up with all the other phones. Having 2.1 means I can’t save everything to my SD card so I am limited on how much space my apps can take up by how much the phone has…… it’s Cricket so not a ton. I had more games but had to delete them as they took up too much space.
-
ALL of the apps I use are FREE
-
Facebook is an obvious app. What makes it even better is they blocked facebook at work when a co-worker got a virus on the work computer after clicking on a link from a facebook friend of hers. I can still access Facebook
-
gReader has all my RSS feeds. It connects to my google account.
-
Pageonce handles my bills. I had this app on my Ipod Touch and was thrilled I could still keep up with my bills anywhere I was. It reminds me when a new bill is due before I get the bill in the main and even tells me when the company has posted my payment. The only negative I have is the bank portion doesn’t include pending items so I do use an app for my bank as well to get the most current info.
-
WordPress for android is a very simple app to post to my blog. I don’t use it much as I don’t like it’s limited functions. I really hate that the pics all go at the top or bottom of your post instead of being able to put them within the text.
-
Xfinity Mobile – This is comcast’s app. I can get my email, voicemail, and access on demand in case I forget to record something.
-
Emoods – It says it’s a bipolar mood tracker. While I am not bipolar I do have anxiety disorder and have been using it to track my medication and moods. I was able to get a pdf report of each month to give to my doctor.
-
Urbanspoon – You can find restaurant on here just like the website. I mostly have it for when were not in the area or on vacation.
-
GetGlue – This app allows you to check in to tv shows your watching, movies, music and games. It can post to twitter and facebook telling all your friends what your up to HA You can also request free stickers you earn.
-
Drivers Ed – I may try to learn how to drive. It allowed me to download my states drivers booklet and has quizzes.
-
Go Aruna – is a file storage app. I had this on the ipod as well. You upload files on a computer and are able to access them or download them to your phone.
-
Ultra Mate – is a simple diary app. I just started using it and am not sure if I will continue or not yet.
-
Springpad – I am using it to replace a couple apps I had. I have a notebook for recipes, one for vacation information, one for web links, one for family birthdays, and one for random stuff. I like that I can access it from my work computer, my phone, my ipod, etc.
-
Pure Healing Yoga – I want to do yoga. I have tried before I just can’t seem to dedicate the time. I was hoping that having an app would help.
-
Key Ring – I keep all my store cards on here. The only problem is not every store can scan the phone. They could input the numbers from your phone though but what a PITA. I hope that more stores move up in the world to make this app more useful.
-
The Weather Channel – it gives you access to the weather channel information, radars and videos.
-
Ringdroid – allows you to create ringtones from your own music files.
-
Picasa Tool – gives you access to your Picasa web albums. You can view them, delete photos in them, and download photo’s to your phone.
-
Shopper – Simple shopping list app. you can cross things off as you get them and save lists by stores. It also allows you to input a price so you can see how much your spending before checking out. Can be a pain to input all that while shopping but when your on a tight budget it is helpful to use that feature.
-
Solitare – simple. That’s all I wanted, needed and play it every day on the bus home from work.
-
Find It the Simpons – uh it’s not in the market anymore
I guess I won’t delete it anytime soon LOL
-
Amazon Kindle – with your amazon.com account you can access free book as well as purchase books. While my phone isn’t as big as a kindle it still reads rather well. I just wish I could find more books for free that I want to read.
-
Over Drive – access your library with this app and borrow books. not all books are available in this manor and ones I have wanted are always checked out. It works like the real library does where there are so many and when they are checked out you can get on a waiting list. You need a library card to participate.
-
redbox – access your redbox account, search for movies available at a redbox near you and reserve movies at a particular redbox.
-
Do you have any apps I should know about?
WTF
Jan 14th
I am making up for a week of no blogging tonight LOL
I haven’t gone through my stats in awhile.
I have 3,222 page views as of…… when I wrote that just now
-
My most popular page, aside from the main blog page, and hmmmm what is with page 4 coming in at #2, is the post about Nadines.
-
Some of the interesting google searches that people found me where:
mother f’er blog
yardwork boobs
chef robert irvine+nude pics -disney -jersey
-
When searching for “mother f’er blog” apparently you might get my post titled Mother F’er. They went through 7 pages to find me. Must not have been much interesting on the first few pages.
When searching for “yardwork boobs” you apparently might see a post titled Yard Work. I don’t remember flashing my boobs while doing yard work nor even mentioning boobs in the post. I didn’t think so, no boobs there. After doing the search myself I didn’t find it after 25 pages. Damn they were determined to get boobs. After saying boobs this many times I wonder if that will put me in the dirty searches more often now. HA Oh wait, I get it now. One of the images is named “yard work boo boo”. Someone else searched for boo but I didn’t get it. Dumb asses thats not a boob that’s a boo boo on my leg!
Yeah, sorry you won’t find “chef robert irvine naked”. I guess they also had alot of pics come up of disney and jersey to wanna remove them from the search. If I click the link to repeat that seach. It takes me DIRECTLY to my blog. Ummmm WTF!
-
And BTW quit trying to download my pic labeled “kids-wet-cedar-creek-park.jpg” It doesn’t exist anymore you sickos!
Guess that will teach me to watch how I label stuff. Damn google images searches.
-
Back to fixing the images on my blog and writing more blog posts along the way
By the way, that page 4 mentioned above gets too much traffic I need to fix the pics on that page next! LOL
The Thrill of Black Friday
Nov 29th
It seems that everyone in the internet world has their opinions these days and is happy to share it. I am sure I have shared mine many times myself. This year I noticed so many people had something against Black Friday. They wanted everyone to know those who participate are crazy, stupid, some even going to far as to say things about how they would rather be with their family. I am all for spending time with family but I think were all granted some shopping time weather it be Black Friday or Tuesday.
-
So why does one go Black Friday shopping? I think everyone has their own reasons but most fall under two reasons if not both.
1. To get an awesome deal.
2. The thrill of it.
-
I go for both reasons.
It’s nice to get a good deal and sure I could get deals all year round but who the hell wants to attempt to try and hide Christmas gifts for more than a month from kids? It can be done, but I actually prefer not to. Tastes change as well I would rather be as close as possible to what my kids want at the time.
Then we have the thrill of it. For once this year my kids don’t really know what they want. Why is that? We haven’t spoiled them over the years. They have always appreciated everything we have given them no matter how little it was. We are finally able to give them more and they don’t ask for much compared to alot of kids. This is the first year I didn’t have to dart for the electronics counter to get a place in line and secure that DSI or whatever item of choice.
There were other things I did get for them and a few things for myself. I went for the thrill of it. This is the first year I went in alone. Hubby hates shopping on a regular day but Black Friday forget it. He sits in the car. Usually I have my sister with me or a friend.
-
So how did this year go?
I started at home by doing my ritual of looking through the ads in the paper. I had been looking at them for weeks on the computer but there is something about going through them after stuffing yourself with dinner on Thanskgiving on the couch.
I made my list by store and told hubby what time we would be leaving. He went off to bed to get some sleep while I gazed over the ads some more and watched tv.
-
This year I purchased a Tshirt from Bfads where I get the ads early. Make sure to bookmark them for next year! The tshirt was only $10 including shipping and all proceeds went to charity. I put it on anxiously awaiting time to go faster. I was growing tired awake all by myself. There wasn’t anyone online anymore I am guessing they were already out shopping or in a turkey coma.
-
It was pouring down raining outside not that the weather is ever nice on Black Friday. Last year it snowed and we froze in line. The year before I believe it was there was freezing rain and my sister and I almost got side swiped by a mac truck. But pouring rain and standing in line didn’t sound like fun especially since I didn’t need one of the must have’s you better be one of the first so many people in line to get. So I started waking hubby up at 3am. He was a bit pissy this year about it as many stores were opening earlier than ever and that meant earlier for him.
-
We arrived at Target, my first stop, at 3:55 am. The line wrapped all the way around the back of the store. I got out of the truck and walked to the back of the line. A nice older gentleman offered to share his umbrella with me. We talked until it was our turn to enter the store where we wished each other good luck. There were no carts left so I started going around adding things in my arms. There got to be a point where I couldn’t carry anymore so I stacked it all up on the ground and started pushing it around the isles. I pushed until I reached the line for the cash register.
I was in and out of Target in 20 minutes. Hubby never thought it would be that short. He parked in Home Depot parking lot as Target was over full. It didn’t take much time for him to arrive and pick me up. We went onto our next destination.
-
My next stop was Walmart. I was a bit put off by their idea to put most items on sale starting at 12:01 am and the electronics at 5:00 am. I was expecting the earlier items to not be available and was worried that I was arriving right before the electronic madness. I have done Walmart on Black Friday when they started before, it wasn’t pretty. To my surprise all the items I had went for were available ! There were no carts here either buy hubby saw one in parking lot and brought it to me, then retired back to the vehicle. As I am putting stuff in the cart my phone starts to vibrate. Was it hubby? Who else would it be? It said Mom on the screen. It was 5am what the hell! Apparently my cell phone called her from my coat pocket and I wasn’t answering her saying hello. She hung up and called back. I felt so bad for that! She worked so hard on Thanksgiving dinner and I woke her up at 5am!
I ran into my daughters friends mom. She was in line for 7 hours to get a ticket to get into another line to pay for the item. A $200 laptop. She said I should get out soon as she over heard they didn’t have enough laptops for as many tickets they handed out. I was done anyway and got in line.
As I was walking away from the cashier the lights went out. I am in Walmart, On Black Friday, and the Lights Went Out! Walmart. Black Friday. No Lights! For the first time on Black Friday I was worried. The crowds didn’t worry me. The people who wanted to fight over stuff didn’t worry me as I wouldn’t fight back it’s not worth it. But in Walmart, in the dark, on Black Friday worried me. I imagined people running for the doors with stuff they didn’t pay for. The lights came back on long enough for me to call hubby and get past the security guard checking receipts as you left the store (also new this year). He met me at the front of the store and there was no stampede that I had been made aware of. The lights were out in the parking lot as well as other stores in the area. I saw a transformer in the distance spark like fireworks. I was just thankful to be out of there.
-
So all that excitement was enough for me and I went to Kohls. I putted around. I was in no rush but was getting low on my Black Friday spending money. I probably looked at every item in the store at least once. The line was only half of what it was when I first went in after at least an hour so I figured it was my time to go.
-
We stopped in Sams Club for breakfast. They had coffee, juice, water, muffins and danishes. This year they hid it in the back of the store but we found it! Smell out the coffee. Smart they are for making you walk through the store cause you know people only went there for the free breakfast not to buy anything. I spend enough money there so I justified my stopping for nothing more than my freebie.
-
Well that was my day of adventure. For a mom who’s only adventure is what to make for dinner most days I enjoyed it and can’t wait for next year! Who is going with me?
I can’t win
Oct 29th
That’s how I feel anyway.
I feel like I am making progress controlling my anxiety and well, shit happens.
-
A few nights ago I went to a performance at my daughters school. I hate taking public transportation, that usually sets my anxiety off to begin with. My daughter wanted me to be there for her so I dealt with it. There was a parent there I hadn’t seen in a few years. I saw her a few times but probably only waved and kept walking. Our daughters had been going to school together for the past 5 years. So she goes on to tell me stories of how she was sick for weeks a few years ago and went on to tell me this story of how she almost died. Then she shared a story of how she almost lost her hearing due to an ear infection.
-
She has Fibromyalgia. I honestly don’t know much about it other than what I looked up today online. I think its even slightly possible I resemble the symptoms. I mentioned to mom I have severe anxiety and explained to her that when I think something is wrong with me my mind goes insane and I think there is something more horribly wrong with me. I told her for a reason as I don’t share that with just everyone in conversation. I told her because she was freaking me out with her stories. So to end the evening she told me to quit smoking because her sister died of lung cancer. People just don’t understand. I can’t watch certain movies and can barely tolerate the news.
-
I spent alot of time thinking and worrying as I have been sick for a few weeks. It’s lingering and won’t go away. That happens alot actually. So I made a doctor appointment for Monday to ease my mind.
-
I have been tired, reserved, not wanting to talk too much.
-
Last night I fell asleep about 10pm. I woke up at 6am with a pain in my chest.
It’s been awhile but I had to take a pill. I’ve had the same pain before and many trips to MedExpress, the ER and my doctor have told me nothing. There is nothing wrong. Ugh! I can’t take it. I would rather have my eye twitch uncontrollably than have a pain in my chest area just so my mind would be more at ease. I am tired of ER docs giving you that OMG ITS JUST ANXIETY YOU NUT CASE look every time. But one of these days I won’t know if it’s a true emergency and will be too afraid to go.
I almost stayed home today but went to work for fear of being home alone when I am like this. So I have this pain and now a pain in my leg.
I am a bit slower because of the medication.
I am worried that something is wrong with me. I should have stayed home. I can’t deal with all these people and my work.
I haven’t had a cigarette since 3pm yesterday. Not sure how much that is contributing.
Just go away and let me live!
-
People like me always have to wonder just how crazy we really are.
It’s been awhile
Aug 3rd
July 20th was my last post here. Many of you know alot has been going on. With requests not to discuss certain personal issues it’s made it difficult to bother writing at all. When that’s what your dealing with, it’s what you wanna write about.
Things have been well and getting better. We did manage to go on our vacation and had a wonderful time. Hilton Head Island is one of those places that when you go, you don’t want to leave. I was ready to beg my husband halfway through SC to turn around and go back. Who cares if were broke, have no job and no place to stay. I don’t want to get stuck in PA. In my mind you just have to do it. In his mind we have to plan, prepare, find the right job, etc. The “right” job may never come. I told him I would clean toilets to move there I don’t care and I mean it.
I will be blogging about my vacation soon. The plan is to blog each day separately. My computer at home is acting up so I need to figure out how to get my camera pics on here to use. I have alot of work to catch up on at work so I am not sure how much time I will have this week but I will try to start getting it out this week.
For now I will leave you with this pic taken Friday, July 30th, 2010 ………………
The Game
Jun 30th
So here I am to tell you about “The Game”. If you have a teenager in the house you may know about it already.
Those of you reading around my age might recall a game we used to play as kids. You see a punch buggy, you punch whomever is around you in the arm and call out “Yellow Punch Buggy No Punch Backs!” with the color being whatever color the car is. When I was a kid there used to be a lot of these fun punch buggy’s in a car lot which made for a painful ride for whomever forgot about it. That lot doesn’t exist anymore and you don’t see as many of the buggy’s either, but fun still I think.
I am always reminded of that game when my kids bring up “The Game”. So now whenever we see a Punch Buggy not only are you punched “You Lost the Game” meaning the newer game. The subject was brought up when my son saw a colored buggy and proceeded to punch us all in the arm when we were down the Strip District. I told him about the above story and how it reminded me of “The Game”. My oldest daughter proceeded to text friends telling them they lost “The Game”. At first I’m all yeah, whatever. But I find myself playing right along with her. Last time I thought of “The Game” I texted her and told her.
Hmmm maybe I should tell you about the game.
From Wikipedia:
The Game is a mind game where the objective is to avoid thinking about The Game itself. Thinking about The Game constitutes a loss, which, according to the rules of The Game, must be announced each time it occurs. It is impossible to win The Game; players can only attempt to avoid losing for as long as possible. The Game has been described alternately as pointless and infuriating, or as a challenging game that is fun to play.
There are three rules to The Game:
1.Everyone in the world is playing The Game. (Sometimes narrowed to: “Everybody in the world who knows about The Game is playing The Game”, or alternatively, “You are always playing The Game.”)2.Whenever one thinks about The Game, one loses.
3.Losses must be announced to at least one person (either by using a statement such as “I lost The Game” or by alternative means).
So for those of you who have an inner child or those of you who play here is a fun video. Pass the link to this blog post to your friends or use one of the social sharing links like twitter or facebook to make your friends loose the game too
Oh and by the way by reading this post you did loose the game.
Pass this video on to your friends and make them loose the game!
