Over the years I have had gardens. I started my first garden with some chives, a couple flowers and cucumbers. Oh yeah, I tried carrots but I sucked at those. That first year I had more cucumbers than one family could handle. I didn’t have much space so I kept it small.

The next place I lived I had a gynormous yard. I planted fountain grass and many flowers. At some point I started to add herbs. I rarely used them then but loved them for some reason.

When we moved into our house 10 years ago I went crazy planting many veggis, herbs and flowers. I realized not everything grows well here so I think I got fed up. Add that the yard was smaller than any of my others and wanted my kids to have room to play.

Gardening is peaceful to me so why I gave it up a few years ago is beyond me. The initial plantings are work but the caring of is easier. There is just something about sitting in the yard with vegatation.

This year I went crazy. My kids are older and dont use the yard much anymore and I need to have my backyard oasis to relax in again.  I have leaf lettuce, green beans, zuchinni, peppers, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, peas, strawberries, mini watermelon, varios hanging baskets, tropical plants, and many herbs. Those chive plants from 15 years ago are still with me and have multiplied like crazy.

My kids even sit out here and talk to me.
Here is to many warm sunny days to enjoy in my backyard.
