TGI.. never mind

Well it’s a slow Friday for me at work. I have loads of work to do my problem is time is going too slow. And I can’t say TGIF cause dammit I work tomorrow! Who ever invented working on weekends needs punched.
Raise your hand if your wondering where the rest of my vacation blogs are…………….. if you happen to be the one person who raised your hand they will hopefully be up by next week. If you didn’t raise your hand, well eff too bad.
I wanna go camping this fall. Personally I would rather go to the beach but I can’t justify the driving distance and money lost as hubby and I are both out of vacation days. I have had my days of roughing it in the woods. Those days are over. We used to camp with the kids for 10 days, that was our vacation. I am a spoiled bitch and refuse to spend a week cooking outside, walking to a bathroom, and hiking. When we started going to the beach I wasn’t turning back. So I am looking at either a small cabin for just my family or to rent a big lodge somewhere for a bunch of people to go with us. If any of our friends interested just let me know!! If I get crickets on that well were going alone and that’s fine too. Oh, and don’t worry I’m just going away for a weekend. That’s about all of the woods I think I can deal with right now.
I’m wrestling a few things in my mind these days. I have been on the “Were moving” campaign for awhile. I started researching areas other than my first choice. My first choice is rediculously expensive and jobs are just forget it. I’m trying to convince myself that maybe hubby is right and we should wait. I don’t wanna wait till all my kids are graduated. Two of the three want to go with us. So we wait and may have one who refuses to move. We don’t wait and maybe have one or two pissed that we didn’t move sooner. I need to decide what’s right, what I can live with and whats best for my kids. Ugh, why do life decisions have to be so hard.

Quiet

I have been pretty quiet over here haven’t I?
I have been writing my more private journaling on paper and keeping them out of here. I don’t know if its good for me or not to do it, to get it out. I used to do it more often and hope that every shred of it has been burned. I know if I find it and read it I may just fall into a depressed coma. I am trying to keep positive, which is why I am not sure writing these things down again are good.
I am trying to find a way to write as often as possible but in a more positive way. I want to set goals and make changes. I purchased wreck this journal and made numerous attempts to commit to it, but that didn’t happen. Maybe I should go that route again. It allowed some destruction of the journal and allowed me to be creative.
Right now I am daydreaming of a laptop and a partially sunny back deck to sit on, early morning, 80 degree’s out. I could get alot done in those conditions 
HHI Day 2
Aug 19th
It was a beautiful day to go to the beach. Our entire week was beautiful.
Most of the week there was a heat index of up to 115 degree’s. I never drank so much water each day in my life. The heat wasn’t just down south, it was everywhere. I was probably one of the few in heaven loving how hot it was. Stay hydrated and it’s not a problem.
We purchased some boogie boards for the boys. They spent most of the day out in the water on them. We figured out why they call those water shirts rash guards, cause the boards leave a rash on your stomach area. They could have cared less.
Ali is a mommy’s girl so I thought this was a cute picture to have of daddy and her spending time together.
I don’t recall what pissed her off that resulted in this picture. I absolutely love pictures of her pissed off. They are the best pictures I have of her and I have many LOL
We left the beach to take a dip in the resort pool. Ali and Jeremy play in the water all the time. Autumn, not so much. Teens are so pissy sometimes. I guess I should be lucky she sat there with me and talked tho cause she didn’t go everywhere with us this trip.
We also took a bike ride to Coligny Plaza to grab a bite to eat. Coligny is about a mile or so from where we were staying. Yes, we got alot of exercise that week as we biked almost everyday. We decided to eat at the Frosty Frog Cafe. It was crowded but we found a table outside to eat at. We almost sat inside but decided against it. I was a little mad at myself when I looked inside and saw Big Brother on the TV, which I was missing. Probably a good thing tho were supposed to be on vacation. They sell Daiquiris made with grain alcohol with up to 190 proof. I wanted to try one so bad, but had to keep reminding myself that I biked there. I don’t know if I could have biked back a mile in any non-sober condition.
Last year I tried the crab cake. It was absolutely the best crab cake I had ever had. This year I decided to try the crab cake sandwich. Even better and more filling. It’s not much more expensive to just get the sandwich. Many restaurant’s have a different type of potato salad there that I fell in love with. It tastes like they took deviled eggs, cut it all up and mixed it into the potato salad. What a proper name for it, Deviled Egg Potato Salad. I will have to come up with a recipe one of these days.
That sums up day 2 of our trip. As you see we typically just hang at the beach, ride bikes and eat when we go LOL I wouldn’t have it any other way and HHI is the best place to do just that.
HHI Day 1
Aug 16th
It has been a little over two weeks since we left beautiful Hilton Head Island, SC. It has taken me some time to get back into the swing of daily life and catching up at work.
This post consists of some pics from the drive down as well as our first day on the island. The drive is approx. 12 hours, without stops. This year we did the trip in 2 days instead of all night, staying at a hotel in Jonesville, NC (middle of freaking nowhere).
The first picture is a picture of a tunnel. Why is it so special? It shows that Pittsburgher’s are not the only people who break before entering a tunnel! Everytime we went through a tunnel, same thing.
There are always a few cars/trucks that are interesting in one way or another. Here are a few for your viewing pleasure.
It’s always beautiful to go over the bridge to the island. If you didn’t smell the salt water 15 minutes ago you will smell it now!
We arrive too early to go to our rental as usual. In a hurry to get there? Hmmmm, maybe 
Usually it’s not an issue, this year we brought our dog. It became an issue of where are we allowed to go with our dog. South Beach Marina has a few resteraunts and shops. We found a nice area to sit that had a re-fillable dog water bowl and also these birds….
When we got the go ahead to go to our rental we were pleasently suprised. It is a resort island with most of them being very costly. We rented this one from Resort Rentals of Hilton Head Island for under $1,000 for the week. You can’t get a deacent hotel for that here. It was spacious enough for my family and had everything we needed. It was private, quiet, and within walking distance to the beach. If you ever plan on visiting HHI check out their website. They have everything from low cost to very expensive all over the island. The people are wonderful to work with.
Here are a couple pics of our place. It is almost like a yurt. It had a kitchen, dining room, living room combo which was nice to hang out in. There were 2 bedrooms with the bathroom inbetween and a nice size back deck.
After unpacking we of coarse wanted to go to the beach. We didn’t pack much we just wanted to go.
My puppy wanted nothing to do with the beach. She was pissed. She wanted to know what the eff was under her feet and will you please pick me up already!
Once she was laying on the blanket she was happier.
So we had settled in, went to the beach and were pretty beat. We ordered pizza in and got a good nights sleep dreaming of what to do next.
Silly Bandz Finds

Sometimes when I go shopping I find something different or unusual. The past week I have found a few items.
Silly Bandz are all the rage with kids. My daughter has so many she couldn’t possibly wear them all and rarely even wears them anymore. She put them into plastic protector sheets like you use for sports cards and does trade them. Some are apparently more rare than others. A package my daughter has are Carolina Girls which have South Carolina themed shapes. You can’t buy that here so they may be considered rare by other children.
I am now waiting for Pittsburgh themed ones that say “Yinz” and other fine Pittsburgese wording. If someone didn’t think it up they did now. I want credit if you got the idea from me! LOL Hopefully an honest soul out there read this and does just that.

Pittsburgh Penguins These were $4.99 for a pack of 20 I believe. I normally don’t pay that much but I had never seen them anywhere else before. We found these at a vendor on the sidewalk in the Strip District on a Saturday.
Hot Topic sells them for $6.00 a pack of 24. Yeah, expensive. Right now they are Buy 1, get 1 half off. We found two that have not been seen in any other store. They also have many different styles of the rings if your looking for them.

Mother F’er

Yeah thats about how I feel right now. Every now and then today I feel like spouting out many swear words and sometimes do.
I took a leap I never thought I would take again and purchased a domain name and web hosting yesterday. I had one many years ago. I enjoyed doing it and had time on my hands. I saw an awesome deal and thought to myself, “Self, why not just do it!” So I did. Thus far it’s primary use will be to host my blog, with more features than on any free platform. I have many ideas of things I could do with my site but the problem is time. Time to come up with the content, create it, and keep it up. We will see what I do. And for what? Same reason I do my blog now, myself. It’s for ME, ME, ME
I am an idiot for doing so………..
Reason #1: My computer at home doesn’t work. Like I have time at work to work on it, nor should I technically. Let’s hope the home computer issue is fixed in the near future cause I sure don’t think ftp will work from my Ipod Touch. Even if it did what a PITA it would be.
Reason #2: It’s been a few years since I have done a website. The basics are still there but installing plug ins, transferring a blog, databases. OMG someone smack me for wanting to do this! I might have to take classes to get caught up in all the techie shit I have missed.
Reason #3: I need something else to do with myself like I need a hole in the head.
So that’s where I am at right now. I am cranky too and you don’t want those details.
The blog name will likely change with the move to a website. I haven’t decided yet. I haven’t decided if the blog will be part of the website or the blog will be my website. Right now I’m just like F it all. But it’s money already spent for 2 years of service so when I am less cranky and things wanna work right it will be live
The Reality of TV

Sometimes you get tired of watching the same crap day after day on TV. It’s saturated with reality TV. We love it. It’s still crap. I miss shows like Party of Five, Roseanne, Home Improvement, the old Nick at Nite. Sure you can catch some shows on re-runs, but I miss new shows. I miss waiting to see what happened to these characters week after week. I missed relating to them in some way. That is hard to do when you have reality bad girls, reality bachelors, reality wanna be stars, you name it. Re-runs are great, but I know what happens already.
Every now and then I go through On Demand to the section with TV shows. Occasionally you find new shows in there you may not have otherwise heard of. Within the past year I can recall finding two. One of coarse is a reality show called Work of Art, the next great artist. The other is Parenthood. Most sitcoms and Dramas don’t last long these days unless you count the insane amount of spin offs of CSI and the like. I hate when I find a new show, get hooked, and it’s gone within the first few years. One of those was Everwood. I doubt Parenthood will have many years in the making but I will enjoy it while I can.
The other day I found myself looking for something new to get hooked on. Yeah, that didn’t happen. I found Mall Cops. OMG Really? Mall Cops??? I know the movie was funny but a TV show? It apparently takes place at the Mall Of America. I didn’t even last through the entire episode before just turning the TV off. At that point I didn’t think there was a point.
Is there anything left in life not taped and used as a reality show? If not it probably will be soon enough. Are the writers out there lacking that much creativity that they can’t come up with anything anymore? Or are we just hopelessly addicted to being nebby and watching other people screw up to make ourselves feel better?
TV has changed so much. I wonder what my thoughts will be in another 10 years.
The sun shines

So not everything is doom and gloom and cranky city all the time.
I mentioned in my previous post I spent most of the weekend shopping. Two kids school clothes shopping is pretty much out of the way. We bought pens, pencils, binders, the works. Target was our place of choice this year which proved to be a good one. Once I got to Wally World we saw that the selection was lacking this year as were some of the previous years sales. I am glad to get it out of the way. In past years we would have never had the money to get one kid everything they needed let alone two. Ok I lied my son still needs new shoes but that has more to do with time spent shopping already more than anything. Pac Sun was giving out scratch off cards. We got $5 off a t-shirt and 10% off our entire order. To top it off I got two pac loot cards so I can get $50 off $100 when I take my oldest next weekend!
While shopping in a very hungry state is a bad way to save money it sure means we won’t go hungry this week. If I hear anyone say there is no food this week I will just point to the receipt from the store. The freezer nor fridge or cubard is bare.
Today’s work day is almost over and I am slowly getting through my pile of leftover work from vacation. But it is looking better! The positive side of it all is that I had work to come back to.
While the hubby lost his license due to a medical issue he gets to keep his job They were very nice in making great arrangements for him to still do what he does. He is lucky! Hopefully it won’t be a full 6 months until he gets it back but we don’t know that yet. We can’t really look for work out of state without it, but on the bright side it gives us time to prepare and save and then start looking to move on.
It is getting closer and closer to my getting outside today. It’s supposed to be warmer today I just won’t know until 4pm LOL Bring on the humidity! I wanna roast on my front porch. I wanna hear the sounds of locust. These are things that annoy others and make me happy. Funny isn’t it?
