Touring Southside
Friday a friend and I went out to lunch in Southside. I have been talking to her online for awhile but we met in a homeschooling group about 2 years ago. Thank you Amberlee for inviting me out to lunch. I had a great time!
After we were done stuffing ourselves we walked down to the next corner. As long as I have lived in Pittsburgh I never bothered to go into this one place South Bank Galleries. From the outside it looked like a big junk store.
We walked around looking at everything and all I could think of is it looked like stuff they picked up on American Pickers. Everything was everywhere which is typical to this type of store.
The man in the gallery told us there was more upstairs. My first thought was “More? You’re kidding right?” But as we walked up the stairs and into the upper floor we saw what actually was an Art Gallery. There were many photo’s on the walls and some more expensive antique items. One such piece of art that I liked was this little space guy.
There are even a few Picasso’s.
Eljay’s Used Book Store is pretty neat too. It’s small but they have tons of books at descent prices. Last time I went there I got my daughter the Complete Works of Shakespeare in hardback for $10.
We then went into Slacker which is sort of like a Hot Topic. Here we both are in front of the store.
This is where my daughter get’s her gauge earrings. If you don’t know what gauge’s are they a
re the earrings that make your holes bigger. We had agreed on how big you can go as the bigger you go the more likely it won’t go back to normal. Unfortunately I have run into the first time my teenager is going against her parents’ wishes. Kids can’t buy tattoos or get piercings without an adult but they can buy these that destroy their ears.

Right after we walked out of Slacker a storm hit. It was pouring down with some serious lightning and thunder. We decided to drive down to the Goodwill and take a look around. I purchased a dog scrapbook for $1, a vase for $0.99, the game hangman for $2.00, and an awesome Pittsburgh shirt for $2.00.
I am sure in the future there will be more Southside tours and reviews since I live so close and go there often. If you want to check out more of what Southside has to offer visit South Side Pgh.
